Is Facebook buying Waze App for $1 billion?

Waze is a social traffic & navigation app based on the world’s largest community of drivers sharing real time road info.

By simply driving around with Waze open, you're contributing with real-time traffic & road info to your local driving community. Users can take a more active role by sharing road reports on accidents, police traps, or any other hazards along the way, helping other users in the area.

50% of the active Facebook users currently access through their mobile devices (compared to 25% a year ago). Facebook is really focus on its mobile business. A service like Waze, with social networking and crowdsourcing of information, fits perfectly into that landscape.

The purchase would be the latest in a long series of acquisitions of high cost for Facebook, and it is said that the two companies have advanced negotiations and the final purchase can be very close.

  1. I read Facebook hasn't bought it yet because Waze's founders don't want to move their development team to Silicon Valley ¿¿?¿?
